Privacy Policy
Effective:
This policy explains what information Things ("we") collects, why, who it's shared with and the choices you have.
What we collect #
- Your account: your email address, the name, username, bio and picture on your profile, and your password if you set one. We use your email to sign you in and to send important account messages.
- What you share: the content you post, including a location if you add one.
- Your settings and connections: who you follow, block and mute, your lists, bookmarks and preferences.
- How you use Things: what you view and interact with, so we can show you content and show authors their viewers.
- Device and app information: such as your device model, its system and app versions, and its settings for Things, so Things works properly on your device and we can fix problems.
Things asks for your camera, microphone, photos and location only for what you choose to share. Nothing from them reaches us unless you post it.
Who can see what #
- Your profile is visible to everyone on Things. With a private account, people need your approval to follow you.
- Your posts and stories are visible to the audience you choose for each. You also choose who can reply and quote.
- Authors can see who viewed their stories and, with Things Premium, who opened their posts.
Who we share information with #
We don't sell your information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that host Things, deliver notifications and emails, and make translations and summaries when you ask for them. They may use it only to provide those services to us.
- Apple, which handles Things Premium payments. We never receive your card details.
How long we keep it #
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, it's hidden at once and deleted 30 days later with your posts, stories and followers. Posts you set to delete themselves are deleted when their time runs out. Some information may be kept longer where the law requires it.
Your choices #
- Choose who sees each post and story, and make your account private.
- Turn off location, camera, microphone, photos and notifications at any time in your iPhone's settings.
- Deactivate or delete your account in Settings → Privacy and Security → Delete Account Now.
- To ask about your information or to have it corrected or deleted, use Settings → Ask a Question.
Children #
Things isn't for anyone under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
Changes #
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in Things before they take effect.
